Frequently Asked Questions
For whom is Casa Gemeos suitable?
When both houses are booked, a maximum of 14 persons + 1 baby can stay. We focus mainly on large, multi-generational families who travel together but still want enough space. Newly formed families, grandparents with children and grandchildren or parents with teenagers/young adults & sweethearts for example.
Casa Gemeos is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users because of the stairs.
Pets are not allowed!
What is there to do?
Enjoying life (outdoors) is very important to us. That is why we focus on outdoor recreational activities for all ages:
Heated swimming pool 8x4m (April – October), barbecue, darts, table tennis, petanque, hammocks, sports equipment…
The outdoor facilities at the back of the garages are shared by both houses.
For an extensive overview of activities in the neighbourhood – look at “region”.
Where is Casa Gemeos located?
Casa Gemeos is situated on the Silver Coast, 100km above Lisbon, 20km from the popular surfers’ beach Nazaré and 6km from the cultural centre of Alcobaça. It is advisable to book a (rental) car to explore the area. There is limited public transport, but on holiday you prefer to do what you want, don’t you? You can also park your rental car safely and for free within our domain. A bakery is within walking distance when you are in good shape :-) A supermarket is at 3km.
What extra services do you offer?
Beds are made and a welcome drink is waiting for you. Only the short (swimming) trousers usually have to be put on. For those who wish, there is also the possibility of breakfast.
Because we, as owners, live at the back of the house, there is direct and personal contact. This does not mean that we do not respect your freedom and privacy.
An advantage is that we are directly approachable in case of questions/remarks. We will be happy to share our favourite restaurants and places with you! For those who are interested, we also organise a cosy pizza night one evening a week.
What is the cancellation policy for Covid19?
Due to the exceptional Covid19 circumstances we provide an exception to our standard cancellation policy. If the official websites of the governments of Portugal and/or country of origin of the guest indicate an official travel ban or negative travel advice, you can cancel free of charge and any amounts paid will be refunded.
In consultation, the trip can of course also be rebooked free of charge to another, fixed period (based on availability) or a voucher can be offered for a later reservation. Even if we are forced to cancel a reservation due to covid19 restrictions, the amount already paid will be refunded.
We always advise our guests to take out a cancellation insurance for the part that will not be refunded by us (positive screening, refused transport, cancellation of flight…).
What measures do you take in relation to Covid?
We always wear masks when we arrive and respect the distance measures. Even outside at the pool, the distance between two different families can be maintained.
Cleanliness has always been one of our main concerns, but now it is even more so.
We pay extra attention to contact points (handles, handrails, switches…) and the common areas outside. By adjusting our check in and out times, we also have a bit more time between stays to do this very thoroughly.
Luckily, this is a small-scale holiday accommodation and you are already far away from the crowd here…
